Abstract: Abstract: The manual harvesting of sugarcane is highly labor consuming process. Assigning labors to harvesting operations is tedious task in the peak time. In the peak time of harvest, lot of shortage for labors as well as the transportation equipments. In this paper parallel machine scheduling with longest process time and load balance techniques are used to assign the labors (Gang) to the fields. Seven gangs are used to assign the 107 Acre of land to harvest in one month. The parallel machine scheduling approach gives the maximum make span of 23 days, and transportation cost also reduced from 112350 rupees to 90000 rupees.
